Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can book directly with us — no referral is needed.
If we ever identify something outside our scope, we will always explain our concerns and advise you to see your GP or an appropriate specialist.
What’s the difference between a Foot Health Practitioner and a Podiatrist/Chiropodist?
A Foot Health Practitioner is trained to assess, treat and maintain the health of the feet, including nail care, callus and corn removal, cracked heels, ingrowing nails and diabetic foot checks.
A Podiatrist/Chiropodist completes a degree-level qualification and can diagnose and treat more complex foot and lower limb conditions, prescribe orthotics and perform surgical procedures.
At Foot Health & Wellness Clinic, we work within our scope, and if we see anything requiring podiatry or medical intervention, we’ll advise and signpost you appropriately.
How often should I have routine foot care?
Most clients benefit from treatment every 6–8 weeks to maintain comfort and prevent problems developing.
Some people may need appointments more frequently, particularly if they have medical conditions, mobility issues or fast-growing callus or nails — we’ll advise you based on your needs.
I have diabetes – how often should I get my feet checked?
People with diabetes should have their feet checked at least once a year as part of their annual review.
However, if you have changes in sensation, skin breakdown, swelling, pain or visual changes to your feet, you may need more frequent visits. Many of our diabetic clients choose routine appointments every 8–12 weeks to stay on top of their foot health — we can guide you based on risk level and findings.
Does ingrown toenail treatment hurt?
Most people describe it as mild discomfort rather than pain.
We work gently, explain each step and stop if you need a break. Relief is usually felt immediately once pressure is removed. If your nail is very inflamed or tender, we will adapt treatment to ensure your comfort.
Are verruca treatments suitable for children?
Yes — in most cases, verruca treatment is suitable for children.
We assess each case individually, explain what to expect, and offer age-appropriate options. We always work at the child’s pace to ensure they feel comfortable and supported.
Do I need a consultation before wellness injections or aesthetics?
Yes.
A consultation is required to ensure treatment is safe and suitable for you. We’ll review your medical history, discuss your goals and explain treatment options, results and aftercare before proceeding.
Is there parking near the clinic?
Yes — there is convenient parking close to the clinic, making your visit easy and stress-free.
